Fresh off her emotive COLORS performance of Often Enough, the uniquely talented songstress Ojerime, unleashes her brand new single, Jetset. In collaboration with JSTRNGS on the production, together they successfully deliver an atmospheric, melodic banger.
Jetset encompasses ethereal guitar melodies, spacious and punchy kick-drums that all add to the low-driven 808's, and vibrant snares to harmonise effectively, bringing a refreshing element to Ojerime's consistent, yet evolving sound.
The new single is accompanied by visuals directed by Dylan Hayes. The stylistic and cinematic approach is one that Hayes is renowned for- dimly lit rooms, tinted spotlights and brief flickers illuminating the haziness. Both Hayes' and Ojerime's styles merge at a profound moment at the 1:20 mark. Encapsulated in glowing sunlight, Ojerime’s natural magnetism is on full display, which, for me is reminiscent of a young Sade.
Ojerime's return to releasing music has been anticipated since her phenomenal project B4 I Breakdown in 2020. After dropping both Often Enough and Jetset this week, it is evident that she is prepared to continue waving the flag for the emerging UK R&B scene.
